MLA (Modern Language Association)
MLA referencing style is a referencing method created by the Modern Language Association. It has two components. One is an in-text citation, and the other one is a full body, and the work cited is a detailed list at the end of the essay. It is primarily used for writing the cite sources and papers in the humanities and liberal arts.
Latest MLA referencing style
There is the 9th edition of the current MLA referencing style. The latest system includes some additional guiding principles in place of a large, specific list of rules. It has been organized as per the documentation procedures instead of the sources. In the previous editions, there were only necessary punctuation and publication places according to the source type. In the 9th edition, punctuation marks are simple, and the information is basic.
Use of the MLA referencing style
You can use the MLA referencing style in two ways: In-text citations and a reference list. In-text citations include short parenthetical citations, embedded within the essay text itself. The list for work cited includes follow up of the above references with complete source details alphabetically. It can include both secondary and primary texts for writing the paper. The work cited page entries must completely match the work cited within the main paper.

This style includes last and first name along with book title, used edition, publisher, medium publication year and place.

It should include the first and last name along with the book title, issue and volume number, publication date, pages, and publication medium.

It includes the editor or author name, article title, edition or version of the book, date and medium of publication, publisher information, and access date.
- Basic formatting for eBook
It must include the first and last name of the author, book title, edition number, publisher name, and publication year, permalink URL and library database name.
- Basic formatting for website
It must include the first and last name of the author, article page or title, publisher or sponsor name, update or publication date, accessed date and URL.
- Basic formatting for a journal article
It includes last and first name, journal title, database name, shortened or permalink URL, publication information and DOI in the database.
